2026 Temerty Faculty of Medicine Research Showcase
We are delighted to invite you to the 2026 annual Temerty Faculty of Medicine Research Showcase, taking place on Friday, July 10, 2026 at the Bahen Centre for Information Technology (40 Saint George Street, Toronto). This free, full-day event is open to undergraduate and graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, staff, and faculty across all departments — and is a wonderful opportunity to connect and learn about research beyond your own department.
Keynote Speaker
We are thrilled to welcome Dr. Robert Yanagawa, Division Head and Program Director of the Division of Cardiac Surgery at St. Michael's Hospital and the University of Toronto. Dr. Yanagawa's research focuses on surgical revascularization and valvular heart disease, and he is widely known for his social media presence, bringing cardiac surgery education to the general public. His keynote will be followed by an interactive Q&A session.
Faculty PI Speakers
This year's PI Talks feature three exceptional researchers:
- Dr. Lisa Isaac, Associate Professor in Anesthesiology & Pain Medicine and medical director of Canada's first pediatric transitional pain service at SickKids
- Dr. Rod Bremner, Professor and Senior Investigator at the Lunenfeld-Tanenbaum Research Institute, whose research investigates the genetic and cellular mechanisms driving cancer cell formation and vulnerability
- Dr. Olga Rojas, Assistant Professor in Immunology and Scientist at the Krembil Research Institute, whose work explores how the gut-brain axis shapes neuroinflammatory conditions such as Alzheimer's and Parkinson's disease
The day will include:
- Keynote Presentation with Q&A
- Research Symposia & Poster Sessions — the top 12 submitted abstracts will be selected for symposium talks, with prizes for top presenters
- PI Talks — a discussion of research methods, experimental design, troubleshooting strategies, and more
- Career Coffee Chats — a speed-dating style networking session with three 15-minute small-group rounds, connecting attendees with professionals from organizations such as AstraZeneca, Thermo Fisher Scientific, and Health Canada, spanning academia, hospitals, government, biotech, pharma, consulting, health tech, and finance. Spots are limited and allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.
