Charlotte Campbell

Biography

Charlotte Campbell

My name is Charlotte Campbell, and I am a third year Pharmacy student at Memorial University of Newfoundland. I am interested in pharmaceutical research and drug discovery, as well as the application of precision medicine.

My initial interest in research began while representing Memorial University at the London International Youth Science Forum in the United Kingdom. I have since had the opportunity to be a part of Dr. Graham Fraser’s lab at Memorial, which investigates capillary based microvascular blood flow regulation in vivo. During this time, I completed a project studying the acute effects of glibenclamide on blood glucose when used to inhibit vascular ATP sensitive potassium channels.

I am actively involved in the School of Pharmacy as the Vice President of Memorial’s Pharmacy Society and President-Elect of Memorial’s National Community Oncology Dispensing Association. I also volunteer within the community, and I work part time as a student pharmacist. In my free time, I enjoy ice skating, hiking the scenic coastal trails of Newfoundland, walking my dog, and baking.

I am excited to be joining Dr. Tim Corson’s team this summer, investigating drug discovery for eye diseases associated with abnormal blood vessel growth. It is an honour to have the opportunity to participate in this year’s Amgen Scholars Program, and I look forward to gaining a greater understanding of graduate studies and making new connections with professionals and peers.
