Hi, I’m Josh Sumra! I’m a third-year microbiology and immunology student at the University of Western Ontario. I’m especially interested in autoimmune diseases and understanding how immune dysregulation occurs, along with how diagnosis and treatment can be improved. I am looking forward to the opportunity to better understand these processes under the supervision of Vinod Chandran, whose work on psoriatic disease combines clinical insight with genetic and biomarker research. I am honoured and excited to learn how this type of research can improve our understanding of disease mechanisms and support better approaches to diagnosis and treatment, and I look forward to contributing to research with direct impact on patient care.
In addition to my academic interests, music, fashion and art, especially drawing, are some of my passions. I like to challenge myself and try new things, and I am motivated by opportunities to learn and grow. Recently, I had the opportunity to apply my teamwork skills as a model manager for a student-run fashion show. My hope is to continue traveling and gaining new experiences.
