Crushing Imposter Phenomenon in Science
Do you experience feelings of isolation and impostor phenomenon in graduate school? If you’re unsure, you can take this test to find out: http://impostortest.nickol.as/. Most graduate students do, but not many talk about it.
We are inviting you to participate in this conversation, through an initiative titled “Crushing Impostor Phenomenon in Science”!
We aim to minimize patterns of Impostor Phenomenon by highlighting diversity in science. For each event, speaker(s) will present their experience as a minority in their field and provide tips for students facing Impostor Phenomenon. The event will include a workshop geared towards hands-on and reflective activities to enable students to solidify take-home tips and tools.
Our next event will be held on March 23th @5-6:30pm! Our speaker, Dr. Vanessa Chan, will also discuss the psychology of imposter phenomenon, in addition to her experience and tips! Please see the poster for more information about Dr. Chan, or our website (https://crushimpostor.wixsite.com/home) for more information about our initiative. This event is Funded by the Graduate Student Wellness Grant offered by Graduate and Life Science Education in the Temerty Faculty of Medicine.
To register for this event, please fill out this registration form, or using the QR code on the poster. Once registered, you will receive a personalized zoom link to join the event on March 23rd. Attendees will also have the opportunity to win a sweet treat!
Many students experience feelings of impostor phenomenon during graduate school, you’re not alone! Join us in sharing and relating our experiences with experienced scientists who have developed ways to help overcome these feelings of isolation.
