Ten Temerty Medicine Faculty Members Receive Canada Research Chairs

Ten faculty members in the Temerty Faculty of Medicine have been awarded Canada Research Chairs, offered through the Government of Canada.

This prestigious program, created in 2000, helps faculty members contribute to making Canada one of the world’s top countries in research and development. Canada Research Chairs have been designed to reinforce academic research and training excellence to improve depth of knowledge and quality of life, strengthening Canada’s international competitiveness and helping to train the next generation of scientists through student supervision and teaching.

We are delighted to announce the following Temerty Medicine faculty members have received Canada Research Chairs:

New Canada Research Chairs in Temerty Medicine:

  • Dr. Crystal T. Clark, at Women’s College Hospital and the department of psychiatry in the Temerty Faculty of Medicine – Tier 2 in Reproductive Mental Health
  • Dr. Janine Farragher, at the department of occupational science and occupational therapy in the Temerty Faculty of Medicine – Tier 2 in Life Participation and Kidney Disease
  • Dr. Eno Hysi, at Unity Health and the department of medical biophysics in the Temerty Faculty of Medicine – Tier 2 in Quantitative Ultrasound and Photoacoustic Imaging   
  • Dr. Karen Maxwell, at the department of biochemistry in the Temerty Faculty of Medicine – Tier 1 in Bacteriophage Biology and Therapeutics
  • Dr. Karla Washington, t the department of speech language pathology in the Temerty Faculty of Medicine – Tier 2 in Monolingual and Multilingual Paediatric Speech-Language Pathology

  • Dr. Julien Muffat, at the Hospital for Sick Children and the department of molecular genetics in the Temerty Faculty of Medicine – Tier 2 in Synthetic Neuroimmunology and Stem Cell Bioengineering
  • Dr. Meaghan O’Reilly, at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre and the department of medical biophysics in the Temerty Faculty of Medicine – Tier 2 in Biomedical Ultrasound
