Leadership Rehab Rounds: Stephanie Lurch
The Leadership Rehab Rounds (LRR) is a Rehab Sector* initiative that brings together students, postdoctoral researchers, faculty and invited external experts to share detailed information about their completed projects, comprehensive research programs and current events topical for rehabilitation science.
Our next LRR will feature Stephanie Lurch (BScPT, M.Ed)—an award-winning educator, physiotherapist, storyteller, and activist—for an inspiring keynote address exploring justice, interconnectedness, and personal agency within the context of physiotherapy and healthcare professions. Drawing from her diverse experiences, including work with Cirque du Soleil, Indigenous communities in New Zealand, and as a pediatric physiotherapist, Stephanie integrates social justice and the arts into health professions education.
This session will challenge attendees to critically examine the intersections of equity, liberation, and the profession's impact on society. Using personal stories, art, and metaphors, Stephanie addresses difficult truths and calls for transformative change in how we live, work, and learn.
Session Highlights:
- Insights from Stephanie’s career in bridging academia and practice.
- Discussion of equity-driven accreditation standards and social accountability in healthcare.
- Exploration of themes from her upcoming book chapter on equity, diversity, and inclusion in physiotherapy.
Don’t miss this opportunity to engage with a leader reshaping healthcare education and advocating for justice and inclusion.
