The Office of the Vice Dean, Research and Health Science Education (RHSE) at the University of Toronto is pleased to celebrate Joanna King, who has been honoured with an Exemplary U of T Ambassador (EUTA) Award for her outstanding contributions to advancing the strategic priorities of the Temerty Faculty of Medicine.
Established in 2022, the EUTA Awards celebrate librarians and staff at any level of the university who provide superior service and demonstrate one or more of the university’s Institutional Competencies, which include leadership, equity, diversity and inclusion, collaboration, stewardship and innovation and excellence.
King, manager, business and research administration of RHSE, has worked to improve the efficiency of core services provided by RHSE.
Among her many accomplishments, she is successfully leading the launch of DiscoverResearch and Elements, online platforms to showcase the research expertise of faculty, which will replace the existing legacy programs. She regularly facilitates Community of Practice workshops for administrators to share best practices, innovate and develop problem solving strategies. She is also developing a sponsorship policy and process to ensure the equitable distribution of limited resources for students and researchers organizing events.
“It is because of new leaders like Joanna King that challenges are transformed to opportunities and innovative advances are possible,” said Sara Sharifpoor, who is the director of RHSE. “Joanna exceeds expectations and goes beyond her daily duties.”
Three other staff members from Temerty Medicine were recognized with EUTA Awards this year: Andrew McLeod, program manager, Office of the Associate Dean, MD Program, Emilie DesRosiers, admissions and recruitment administrator, and Sobiga Vyravanathan, curriculum and education administrator, of the Institute of Medical Science.
Recipients were presented with their awards at a spring ceremony earlier this year. Congratulations to all of the winners!
